Oncology Ventures: Acronym to English Cancer Guide + Waze Comedy

The Acronym to English Guide for Cancer
Cancer care is full of life-saving innovation and equally full of confusing acronyms and terms.
One of my core goals for Oncology Ventures is to make cancer easier to talk about. People still feel uncomfortable saying the word cancer. And many people are nervous to ask me what type of cancer I had. If we can get past that, we can start to have real, tough conversations to improve cancer care.
We hope this cheat sheet helps to translate some commonly used abbreviations and terms in oncology into clear, real-world language. Note this is a small subset of commonly used terms and not meant to be all-encompassing.

I use the directions app Waze. But, lately it feels like Waze is using me. It used to just tell me to turn right in 500 feet. Now it wants my feedback on everything. I’m trying to find an efficient route to pick up lunch, and a notification pops up every 12 seconds… Is the cop still there? Road still closed ahead? Carl from a few cars up lost his hat, mind looking for it?
Why are you asking me? You think I’m checking my phone while driving past a cop? That’s how you become the alert. When I see a cop on the road, my first thought isn’t wow, this is a great time to take a survey from a needy app.
Is the hazard still there? I don’t know, Waze, I was busy avoiding the random couch on the road. But sure, let me confirm for you while swerving into a ditch.
Feels like Waze is turning me into an unpaid informant. Hey Ben, while we have you… your friend Tim has been acting a bit strange recently. You think he’s connected to the recent shoplifting incident at the mall?
At this point I don’t even use Waze to get places. I just open it to feel needed.

Oncology Ventures’ Annual Limited Partner Meeting will be in NYC this fall
What is the most creative / memorable thing you’ve seen done at an Annual General Meeting?
We are seeking one final sponsor to join us in the room. Are you (or someone you know) interested in engaging with healthcare and oncology leaders, investors and oncology start-up CEOs?
Do you have a top recommendation for where we should host our ~100 guests?

CoreClub NYC is a pretty ideal spot in Midtown that accommodates around ~80 people (maybe more).
